The Whelk - Westport, CT

Chef Bill Taibei's tribute to local seafood near the Westport, CT train station.  Smartly nautical decor- chalk board lists of oysters and beers- place-mats made of recycled newspaper.  The impressive raw bar selection is the only way to make it out of there with your arteries in tact.  Many of the composed plates are ultra buttery, decadent often fried, and of course delicious.

Pan fried skate wing with brown butter and slaw
- meaty in almost a pulled pork way-

Scallops with Farro verde and ramps - scallops
were perfect. Kirsten thought the Farro tasted
like some anise flavored dental situation
- I rather enjoyed it.

Rice/slaw that came with the skate wing.

Jonah crab claws with pork broth and pickled onions.
(You need bread to mop up the delicious sauce)

Corn meal crusted oyster sliders on house made Parker
house rolls with spicy aioli. Insanely delicious
- great texture and flavor.
